Pangkor Island, Perak, Malaysia

About 10 to 15 minuters, we arrived at Pangkor Island.

Pangkor Island - Off the coast of Perak State, north of Selangor , lies a cluster of fabulous islands with unquestionably some of the best coves and beaches on the western coast of peninsular Malaysia. Among them, two islands predominate in terms of accessibility, infrastructure and development - the largest island, Pangkor and her sister Pangkor Laut. Those who are not familiar with the geographical locations generally confuse the two. (From Pangkor.com)

H1N1 in UUM

About 5 PM, when I take the bus back to the student residential hall, saw a lot of students go to bus station from their own student residential hall. (Looks like a very serious incidents)

Because, that University Utara Malaysia has been H1N1 attack! (The breaking news was knew from my friends)

Besides that, the main gate of UUM will be closed at 8PM, all students are not allow go out after this time.

I immediately back to the room to pack my luggage, and wear the short pants went to the bus station (no time to shower, dinner, and wear my jeans)

At the bus station, there are full of students!  That time is no buses, no taxi, and even don’t have Kereta Sapu.

So, my friends and I decide go to PKU bus station, and hope to find the bus. (When we reach the halfway, the HBR bus was appeared and we quickly stopped it. Finally, we are able to take bus go to Alor Setar bus terminal, God bless!)

Reach the Alor Setar bus terminal, my friend and I went to counter for tickets (At this time, the bus terminal where is full of people, I am afraid the bus tickets have been sold out)

H1N1 in UUM

Luckily, we bought the bus tickets but depart time is tonight 12PM (that is because current time is 7PM, we need to wait 5 hours in the bus terminal)

This is really unforgettable day in my campus life, which feeling seems like to escape out from the disaster.

(27 August 2009)

Note:

University Utara Malaysia would not close the main gate at 8PM; we all got the wrong message and cause the confusion on the campus. (From SinChew website)

Unic bus enhances the charge, UUM

University Utara Malaysia (UUM) bus service:

Old charge: RM 0.40 each time

New charge: Package one, RM 22.00 - 40 times (RM 0.55 each) and package two, RM 90.00 - without the time limit.

Limit: The remaining point in the prepay card cannot left to the next semester.
On 3 January, the University Utara Malaysia (UUM)'s bus company “UNIC SYSTEM BUSINESS the Limited company” announced on 17 January starts to promote 2 charges packages, i.e. package one (RM 22.00 - 40 times) and package two (RM 90.00 - not limited number of times).

The government already lowers the oil price; the University Utara Malaysia (UUM)'s authorities should not allow the bus company to raise the charge.

In the inflation, the bus expense raises will increase the student finance burden.

Students of University Utara Malaysia (UUM) prepare to hold signature campaign, collects the more student's signatures as far as possible, requests the University Utara Malaysia (UUM)'s authorities to command the bus company to terminate the new charge system.

In addition, according to the student inquired the bus company, each prepay card (matric card) has the restriction on use, i.e. cannot continuous use prepay card twice a time in the 15 minutes, because to limit the student share a prepay card problem.
